Dear families,

The new year has gone by fast, and we have many positive updates at TOE.

First, Basketball season is coming to an end, and we want to say great work to the students, coaches, staff, and parents who all helped make it a wonderful season. Great work, boys and girls!

Thank you to the parents who have been helping with ASC parent meetings. If you have missed them, you are invited to the next one.

Next, HLC is preparing for the Social Studies Fair on February 20, 2026. Please see Mr. Tso if you have any questions.

Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up on Monday, February 23, 2026. Teachers are reaching out to parents and scheduling appointments. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at eschools@gmcs.org.

Our next FAN (Family Academic Night) meeting will be Wednesday, March 4, 2025 at 5:00 PM. More information will come out about this soon - no AHA that night.

We are still focusing on growth mindset, grit, gratitude, groups (collaboration), goals, and grades. Goals, grades, and groups are related to the district "Graduate Profile" - skills students ultimately need to graduate. Recently we have added the word "gumption", which means the ability to decide the best thing to do in any situation. Ultimately, we have been focusing on a positive mindset all of Quarter 3, and we start each day with positivity at TOE. Positivity is not about pretending everything is okay - it is about making the best of each day and choosing to see good to rise above circumstances.

Finally, we recently started Drop Everything and Read (DEAR) for 15 minutes each morning after announcements. This is to make sure every student reads independently every day at TOE, and they learn how to focus as they read. Teachers have also instituted a math problem of the day to support preparation for end of the year testing.

We look forward to a wonderful rest of Quarter 3. I will continue to send out updates as events approach, and I thank everyone for starting the year with a positive mindset!

With gratitude,

Mrs. Schools
