Dear Families,
October was full of fun and responsibility, which is what we promote at TOE. Students were not only well-behaved, but they operated with a growth mindset, grit, and gratitude through many assemblies and events, including our Box Car Parade, Trunk-or-Treat activities, and pumpkin fun. We thank all parents, community members, and volunteers who came out to make our Halloween week a blast!
We give a special thanks to Tikesha Echeverria, commander at Nakaibeto Veteran's Organization (Mexican Springs), for their pumpkin donation. Thank you so much.
This past month, TOE was awarded as #1 in growth proficiency for the previous school year, and our school was honored by the district and board members, with some financial incentives for staff. In addition, GMCS Board member, Kevin Mitchell, visited our school to honor teacher retention initiatives.
On Halloween, Trunk-or-Treat was a huge success, and we had a staff and student costume contest. Congratulations to all of our winners. Do not forget to join our Fall Art Contest and check out the rest of the newsletter for important dates.
Thank you, again, for an eventful and wonderful October. We are look forward to great opportunity in November.

4G at TOE - Growth Mindset, Grit, Gratitude, and Goals
GMCS promotes a Graduate Profile for all students. In Q1, we focused on critical thinking skills, emphasizing students "THINK" before they act. We will be working on developing more creative and critical thinking skills in other ways throughout the school year. In Q2, we are working on goals as part of being responsible individuals. Students are setting goals in various ways, both school-wide and in their classrooms.
We, of course, will continue developing our initial character traits from the start of the year: growth mindset, grit, and gratitude. In the season of Thanksgiving, gratitude is a great concept to talk about with students, and we will be promoting a spirit of gratitude at TOE, focusing on what we are thankful for every day this month. Can growth mindset, grit, and gratitude be aligned with goals? Absolutely! These character traits can help students achieve their goals, so embrace them every day.
November 24 - 28 - Thanksgiving Break
