Positive Character at Tohatchi Elementary
Dear Families,
The start of the school year has been wonderful, and we are focusing greatly on implementing social/emotional learning and character development into the foundation of our school. Why? Doing this is "preventative" in discipline, creates motivation, and it helps us all come together as a school-wide family, whether we are parents, staff, or community members. We all belong here!
On Friday, September 12, we had an assembly emphasizing growth mindset, grit, and gratitude. Mrs. Sanchez, our dean, emphasized grit (perseverance) in relation to testing and students doing their best. Students were incredibly well-behaved and enthusiastic at the assembly, and I thank them for that.
Tohatchi Elementary, keep up the amazing work.
After School Activities (AHA, Bike Club, Volleyball)
AHA (after-school) is off to a solid start. We thank you all for your hard work and dedication to student learning. This is a reminder to parents to please be available to pick-up students by 4:30 PM if they are not riding the bus on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Please contact Kinsey Williams, the head of AHA, with any questions about schedules.
Parents, we are refining our tardy process and will come up with updates on this soon. We will send them out as soon as they are solidified.
Bike Club is also off to a wonderful start. We are the first elementary school in the district to have a bike club, so we ask for patience as we are getting everything in order. Starting Tuesday, September 16, 2025, we can only have 6th grade attend the Bike Club until further notice. A student letter will be sent home with more information. To note, 4th and 5th graders are still on the Bike Club list, but there may be shifting dates of when they can start (likely next semester). Again, a letter will be sent out Monday, 9/15/25 with more information.
Volleyball - Congratulations to Mrs. Carlston and her girls' volleyball team, who won all three matches in their first game on 9/12/25. We are proud of you!
